Remote Visions

Interactive video Installation, in-progress
Projector, screen, sound, electronic component

“Remote Visions” is an in-progress project that questions the media’s influence on our perception of reality, brutality, and distances. Collages made from found images mask the portraits of those who were brutally injured—by the horrors of war. The new made-up face cannot hide and heal the bleeding. The first video image hangs against a backdrop of a borderless map. Aerial photos from cities currently torn by war are captured on Google Maps but look abstract and unrecognizable. This juxtaposition between extreme long shots and distorted close-ups reflects how emotional and geographical distance can affect our perception of reality.
